Records management software in Vancouver
Records management, workflow automation and dispatch software for Vancouver's public sector, agencies and businesses, built and hosted in Canada.
Built for Vancouver's public sector and businesses
Vancouver Fire Rescue Services employs over 920 people across 20 fire halls, a training site and three fire prevention offices, and handled 72,496 calls for service in 2023, the highest call volume in its history. E-Comm, the regional emergency communications centre, dispatches for the Vancouver Police Department and Vancouver Fire Rescue Services, while ambulance dispatch is handled provincially by BC Emergency Health Services. Agencies at this volume depend on records that move cleanly from the call to the report.

British Columbia records and privacy laws
British Columbia has one access and privacy law for public bodies, including municipalities and police boards, and its own private-sector privacy law. Provincial government records fall under a separate records management law.
Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA)
Applies to public bodies, including municipalities, municipal police boards, hospitals, regional health boards and BC Emergency Health Services. Since February 1, 2023, every public body must have a privacy management program and must notify affected individuals and the Commissioner without unreasonable delay of a privacy breach that could reasonably be expected to result in significant harm. Amendments in force since November 25, 2021 removed the former requirement to store personal information only in Canada; disclosure outside Canada must now follow the regulations, and storing sensitive personal information outside Canada requires an assessment.
Who it affects: the City, police boards, health bodies and other BC public bodies.
Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA)
Sets the personal information and privacy rules for private organizations in British Columbia, including not-for-profit organizations and trade unions. It has substantially similar status to the federal law, so PIPEDA generally does not apply to provincially regulated organizations in BC.
Who it affects: BC businesses and non-profit organizations.
Information Management Act
Requires ministries and designated public sector organizations to keep and dispose of information according to information schedules approved by the Chief Records Officer, and since 2019 to keep an adequate record of their decisions.
Who it affects: provincial ministries and designated public sector organizations.
How The Auxilium Group supports these requirements. The Auxilium Group keeps records in Canada, controls access by role, keeps a history of who created and changed each record, and can hold records for the retention periods you set. Meeting a law is still your organization's responsibility. Tell us which rules apply to you and we will show you how The Auxilium Group would handle them, or tell you plainly where it would not.
This is general information about British Columbia law, not legal advice. Check the current law and your own obligations with your legal or privacy advisor.
